Deputy Stage Manager

The candidate should have a passion to develop his/her career in a performing arts organization and interested to learn and will report directly to the Technical Director via the Stage Manager.  He / She will assist Stage Manager / Technical Director in the routine operation of stage management, attend rehearsals and to co-ordinate all technical matters between Artistic and Technical Department.
Main Responsibilities
  • Station at the Company’s rehearsal studios 
  • Directly report to the Stage Manager / Technical Director
  • To assist the Stage Manager / Technical Director in the routine operation of stage management matters.  These include the execution of the operation aspect of the daily rehearsals
  • To conduct research for props.  Prepare and make simple props if the Production Manager / Technical Director sees fit.  Take care of all props related to the productions
  • To co-ordinate between the Artistic and the Technical Department on the technical aspect as they are always present at the rehearsal studios
  • To assist the choreographers or his/her representative in the technical aspect.  These include arranging rehearsal tapes, props and furniture etc.
  • To keep full record of rehearsal and prepare the Prompt Book
  • To update the Prompt Book and cues sheets for repertoire purpose
  • To call all cues of the show according to the requirements of the Choreographer, Set Designer, Lighting Designer and Sound Designers
  • To act as Stage Manager for the Company’s re-run production(s) and small-scale production(s) as assigned
  • To be responsible for preparation and execution of Education performances, school tour, development activities, and the like as assigned
  • To maintain Company’s production music and Audio Library
  • Any other duties relating to the responsibilities of a Deputy Stage Manager as may arise from time to time
  • Relevant Diploma / Degree holder or above
  • Minimum 2 years working relevant experience
  • Excellent communication skill in spoken in English and Chinese (including Mandarin)
  • Able to work under multi-tasks and pressure, and flexible working hours to accommodate production schedules
  • Knowledge on ballet and dance is a must

Other Information

  • Working hours: 10:00 am to 7:00 pm from Mondays to Fridays. 10:00 am to 02:00 pm on Saturdays. During performance and touring weeks, working hours will be different. Compensation leave will be granted for extra hours worked
  • Annual Leave: 16 days
  • Place of work: Mainly in Tsim Sha Tsui, occasionally in other places in Hong Kong and overseas
  • In-patient and out-patient medical cover
  • 12-month salary
