The 2015 Hong Kong Ballet Ball
An Elegant and Meaningful Fundraising Gala
All for the Love of Ballet
[Hong Kong – 12th September 2015] The Hong Kong Ballet Ball, one of the longest running fundraising events in the city, was held in the Grand Ballroom of the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong on Friday 11th September.
The much-anticipated event was made possible by Main Sponsor PRADA, who collaborated for the first time with Hong Kong Ballet for the event. The purpose of the evening was to raise funds so that the beautiful art form of ballet can be enjoyed by all walks of life. Having recently unveiled its new brand identity, Hong Kong Ballet’s redefined vision and mission is to strengthen its connectivity with everyone in the community, making ballet accessible to all – to schools, to students of all ages, and to the underprivileged. Funds raised at the Ball will contribute to the Company’s many education and community outreach initiatives ensuring that this vision and mission becomes a reality.
Over 360 prominent society figures and celebrities attended a night of fine dining and fabulous entertainment. Among them were the Guest of Honour Mrs Regina Leung, C.E.O. of PRADA Asia Pacific Mr Armando Tolomelli, Chairman of the Hong Kong Ballet Ms Daisy Ho; Chairman of The 2015 Hong Kong Ballet Ball Gala Committee Ms Maya Lin; The 2015 Hong Kong Ballet Ball Gala Committee members: Mrs Jennifer Chan, Ms Chen Ningning Diana, Ms Vena Cheng, Mr Eric Fok, Mrs Colleen Fung, Mr Ronald Kwok, Ms Veronica Lam, Mr Ambrose Lee, Ms Rendy Ng and Ms Alicia Tan; Hong Kong Ballet Board of Governors: Ms Mira Yeh, Mrs Christina Gaw Donohugh, Mrs Janice Chan-Choy, Mrs Leigh Tung Chou, Mrs Anne Wang Liu, and Mrs Sharie Ross Tse; The Hong Kong Ballet Guild: Mrs Vanessa Wong Choi, Ms Mary Tong Ho and Ms Vicky Wong; Special guests: Ms Pansy Ho, Ms. Maisy Ho, Mrs Brigitte Ying, Mr. Kenneth Fok, Ms Jacqueline P.C. There were a variety of performances by local and international talents including an excerpt from Pinocchio, which premiered in Hong Kong in August, and an excerpt from Bolero, created by Hong Kong Ballet's own Ricky Hu and Yuh Egami. Other highlights of the evening were a Ballet/Breakdance performance choreographed by local talent, choreographer Mak Chua Shing, and an appearance by JinJo Crew from Korea who have recently been taking the world by storm.
Throughout the evening there were lots of fun and lively moments as guests bid for their favourite auction items, of which there was a much sought after selection including 4 items from PRADA. Champagne partner Perrier-Jouet also provided a prize, a Perrier-Jouet The Belle Epoque Collection.
Chairman of Hong Kong Ballet, Ms Daisy Ho emphasised the importance of the funds raised at the Ball: "Funds raised at the Ballet Ball will enable Hong Kong Ballet to fulfill its redefined vision, mission and promise. We are so grateful to everyone who contributed to making the event the huge success it was."
The Ball was organised by The Ballet Ball Gala Committee - led by Chairman, Ms Maya Lin who commented: "Planning and executing a successful Ballet Ball is a rewarding experience where a group of likeminded individuals contribute to help make a difference. All the ladies and gentlemen I helped bring together share their diverse talents and special insights to make the evening exceptional and fun."
