Alexander YAP

Soloist

Born in London, UK, Alexander Yap graduated from The Royal Ballet School in 2015 and joined Northern Ballet that same year. He later danced with Birmingham Royal Ballet (BRB) before joining Hong Kong Ballet as a Soloist in 2022. 

Yap has performed many soloist and featured roles. With BRB, he danced Hilaron in David Bintley (after Petipa)’s Giselle, Espada in Carlos Acosta’s Don Quixote, Drosselmyer in Peter Wright’s The Nutcracker, Benvolio and Paris in Kenneth MacMillan’s Romeo and Juliet, Prince Siegfried in Wright’s Swan Lake Dreams and the principal man in MacMillan’s Concerto and Daniela Cardim’s Imminent. Other repertoire includes Wright’s Swan Lake, Bintley’s CinderellaThe King Dances and Beauty and the Beast, Twyla Tharp’s Nine Sinatra Songs, Jack Lister’s A Brief Nostalgia, Goyo Montero’s Chacona and more. He also danced in David Nixon’s Swan Lake, Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid, Jean Christophe Maillot’s Romeo and Juliet, Frederick Ashton’s La Fille Mal Gardée, Kenneth MacMillian’s Gloria and Konathan Watkins’ 1984, among others.
