One of the greatest romantic ballets of all time, Giselle is a passionate tale of love, betrayal and forgiveness. With coveted virtuoso roles and an iconic ‘white act’, this fresh new staging by Septime Webre and South African ballet artist Charla Genn and coached by ballet-world superstar Julio Bocca, after the Coralli/Perrot original, features stunning sets by Peter Farmer and live accompaniment by Hong Kong Sinfonietta. An array of international guest artists will dance alongside Hong Kong Ballet artists in the legendary lead roles. This is classical ballet at its most transcendent!

Marcelo GomesBorn in Manaus, Brazil, Marcelo Gomes studied at The HARID Conservatory and at many ballet companies’ schools. He joined American Ballet Theatre in 1997, was named Principal Dancer in 2002 and danced with the company for 20 years.
Gomes danced in all classical ballets and performed lead roles and/or created roles in works by George Balanchine, Anthony Tudor, Kenneth MacMillian, Paul Taylor, Jiri Kylian, Nacho Duato and Alexei Ratmansky and more. He has guest performed with many renowned ballet companies around the world. Accolades include the Hope Prize at the Prix de Lausanne in 1996, the Prix Benois de la Danse in 2008 and Dance Magazine’s Dancer of the Year in 2016.

Sarah Lane
Principal Dancer, American Ballet Theatre

Sarah LaneBorn in San Francisco, US, Sarah Lane received her dance training at Classical Ballet Memphis and Draper Centre for Dance Education. In 2003, Lane joined American Ballet Theatre as an Apprentice and later became Principal Dancer in 2017. 
Her accolades include the Bronze Medal at the 2002 Youth America Grand Prix competition and the Silver Medal at the Jackson International Ballet Competition that same year. She performed at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts as a Presidential Scholar in the Arts and was Natalie Portman’s dance double in the Academy Award-winning film Black Swan.
Matthew Golding

Matthew GoldingBorn in Saskatchewan, Canada, Golding graduated from The Royal Ballet School with honours in 2003 and joined American Ballet Theatre that same year. He joined Dutch National Ballet in 2009, became a Principal Dancer with The Royal Ballet in 2014 and retired in 2017. He is currently a Guest Principal Dancer at Dutch National Ballet.
His repertoire highlights include Solor in Natalia Markarova’s La Bayadère, Romeo in Rudi van Dantzig’s Romeo and Juliet, Basilio in Alexei Ratmansky’s Don Quixote and Prince in Christopher Wheeldon’s Cinderella and Peter Wright’s The Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker. Golding regularly guest performs worldwide, including Mariinsky Ballet, Staatsballett Berlin, The National Ballet of Canada, Hong Kong Ballet and English National Ballet and at international ballet festivals.
Golding received the Dutch Zwaan Award in 2010, the Alexandra Radius Prize in 2011 and nominations for the Prix Benois de la Danse in 2012 and 2013. He also won the Youth America Grand Prix Ballet Competition and the Prix de Lausanne in 2002.

Julio Bocca
Julio BoccaBorn in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Julio Bocca as a Principal Dancer at American Ballet Theatre for 20 years until 2006. He founded Ballet Argentino in 1990 and was the Artistic Director of Ballet National Sodre in Uruguay. Bocca serves on the juries of many competitions such as Benois de la Danse and Prix de Lausanne and is now a guest coach of ballet companies. His accolades include the Gold Medal at the 1985 International Ballet Competition in Moscow, Prix Benois de la Danse in 1992, the 1998 Dance Magazine Award. In 2015, he received the Delmira Agustini Medal for his contributions to Uruguay’s arts culture and the Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters from France.
