A HKSAR 20th Anniversary Celebration

Hong Kong Ballet’s Mainland China Tour 2017
Visiting four major cities in June

To celebrate the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR)’s 20th anniversary, Hong Kong Ballet will embark on an exciting four-city Mainland China tour to Beijing, Hangzhou, Shanghai and Jinan for seven performances in June 2017. As a key flagship arts organisation in Hong Kong, the Company proudly serves as a cultural ambassador to mainland audiences and will perform for fans in Jinan for the very first time. This tour is generously sponsored by the Government of the HKSAR and Official Tour Sponsor China Everbright Ltd. with PUMA as the Tour Uniform Partner.

During 16-28 June, the strong ensemble will perform on the stages of Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center (16–18 June), Hangzhou Grand Theatre (20 June), Shanghai Poly Grand Theatre (23 and 25 June) and Shandong Grand Theatre (28 June). Programmes for this tour include the ‘ballet of all ballets’, Swan Lake, especially staged for Hong Kong Ballet by John Meehan based on Petipa/Ivanov’s original choreography, and an inspiring mixed bill programme consisting of two reveting Jiří Kylián’s works, Petite Mort and Sechs Tänze, which the Company will première in its Carmen and More production from 26th to 28th this month. Two more ballets, Fei Bo’s Shenren Chang and Jorma Elo’s Shape of Glow, which the Company premièred in 2014 and 2016, respectively, will also be featured in the mixed bill programme.
