Balanchine Encounter for Ballet Teachers

Hong Kong Ballet performs Van Cleef and Arpels proudly presents Balanchine’s Jewels, 21–23 May 2021, at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts’ Lyric Theatre. As part of this Balanchine Celebration, Hong Kong Ballet, in collaboration with Hong Kong Ballet Group, presents two special encounters for serious Hong Kong ballet students and professional ballet teachers: two Repetiteurs from the Balanchine Trust, Diana White and Paul Boos, are in Hong Kong, staging the work on Hong Kong Ballet, will offer a special Open Ballet Masterclass on the Balanchine technique as well as a Balanchine Encounter for Ballet Teachers.

George Balanchine, father of American ballet, was one of the most influential choreographers in the 20th century. His masterwork Jewels is a dazzling three-act ballet; each act of the performance celebrates the beauty and glamour of a precious gemstone, and evokes a particular time and style of ballet – Emeralds, celebrating the French Romantic style, Rubies, celebrating American twentieth-century drive and ingenuity, and Diamonds, celebrating the grandeur of Imperial Russia.

Don’t miss this chance to learn about Balanchine’s work and technique from the Repetiteurs!
