On Friday 6th March 2015, the opening night of Turandot, The Hong Kong Ballet hosted an enjoyable and informative pre-performance talk at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. The Company’s Director of Artistic Planning & Touring, Mr. Joseph Morrissey, and Education & Community Outreach Manager, Ms. Vency Kwok, conducted a 20-minute pre-performance talk in which they discussed the history of Puccini’s masterpiece and the transformation of Turandot from opera to dramatic dance, as well as other significant productions adapted from operas. The Hong Kong Ballet’s dancers, Soloists Li Lin and Liu Miao-miao, also participated in the talk and shared their experiences and challenges in acting/dancing in this opera-transformed ballet. The talk was attended by almost 90 members of the audience who then watched Turandot with a deeper insight into it.
