Programme

Get ready for a wild adventure down the rabbit hole! This summer, Hong Kong Ballet will perform Septime Webre’s over-the-top ALICE (in wonderland) at Hong Kong Cultural Centre’s Grand Theatre during 9-15 August 2021. Bursting with excitement and imagination, the dynamic production showcases a dizzying array of dances that merge traditional ballet with contemporary energy, capturing the topsy-turvy magic of Wonderland and the bizarre characters that confront Alice on her incredible journey.

We are looking forward to welcoming all our young dancers playing Junior Cards in ALICE (in wonderland) and are pleased to announce a special junior trainee programme to help strengthen and enhance participants’ pointe technique. This unique five-month programme is specially designed for dancers 11 to 18 years old who are progressing to pointe or already at pre-pointe level. Classes will run from March to August 2021, and auditions for the programme will be held on 14 March 2021.

Eligibility

• All students 11-18 years old by 15 Aug 2021
• Minimum pre-pointe level

Opportunities

• Participants will have the chance to perform in HKB’s ALICE (in wonderland) on stage alongside HKB dancers.
• Participants will receive professional pointe training from HKB’s Ballet Master and alumni. The programme is designed to augment ballet training at the student's home studio.
• Participants will be provided with two pairs of pointe shoes for performances.

Class Schedule

A total of 20 classes will take place on Fridays or Saturdays (evenings) from March to July 2021, and students may choose to attend 1 class on either day each week. Please note that all rehearsals and performances sessions are mandatory. The detailed schedule can be found in the schedule.

• Application deadline: 5:00pm, 12 March 2021 (Friday)

• Please upload the required photo/video in the form. They will be considered as pre-selection of the audition.
• Successful applicants will be invited to the audition. Please pay attention to our email.
• Late submissions or incomplete registration forms will not be processed under any circumstances.
• Hong Kong Ballet's decision on all matters relating to auditions is final.

Announcement of Audition Results

• Successful candidates of the programme will receive individual e-mail notifications by 5:00pm, 16 March 2021 (Tuesday).
