Nicholas Lau started as a dance accompanist in 1999 for The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts before joining Hong Kong Ballet as a full-time pianist in 2009. He played for the Genée International Ballet Competition in 2006 and 2009 and has participated in large-scale productions like La Bayadère, Giselle, Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, The Merry Widow, Don Quixote, Coppélia and Les Sylphides.
