TENG Ronger

Corps de Ballet

Born in Shandong, China, Teng Ronger graduated from Beijing Dance Academy and later from John Cranko School in Stuttgart. She danced with The Joffrey Ballet Studio Company before joining Hong Kong Ballet as a Corps de Ballet member in 2022.

With Stuttgart Ballet, Teng danced in John Neumeier’s The Lady of Camellias, Marcia Haydée (after Marius Petipa)’s The Sleeping Beauty and August Bournonville’s Abdallah and performed with Joffrey Ballet in Christopher Wheeldon’s The Nutcracker, Yuri Possokhov’s Don Quixote, George Balanchine’s Serenade and Yoshihisa Arai’s Appalachian Spring.

She won a bronze medal in the 2017 Beijing International Ballet and Choreography Competition and was a 2018 Prix de Lausanne finalist.

 

Dancer Q&A
1. What does ballet mean to you?

Ballet is one of the most important parts of my life. It’s not only a way to tell a story but also to express myself.

2. Why did you start dancing?
Ever since I was a baby, every time I heard music, my body started moving and dancing. Gradually, I realised that I forget everything that bothers me when I’m dancing.


3. What was the first ballet you ever performed?
He Hun, a Chinese ballet with China National Ballet.

4. Most memorable/weird onstage moment and why?
I  walked on stage five times but didn’t start dancing because of the wrong music.


5. What is the attribute you most like about yourself?
I completely focus on working hard and then completely focus on relaxing.


6. What keeps you motivated on tough days?
Love -  love for my career, love between people.


7. What is the place where you feel most yourself?
During the most enjoyable times on stage.


8. What would you be if you were not a dancer?
A journalist.


9. What are your hobbies?
Traveling around the world and trying things that I haven’t done before.


10. If you can have a superpower, what would it be?
Traveling through places and time.
