Get ready to sparkle and shine on stage this December! Hong Kong Ballet's beloved Christmas tradition The Nutcracker is returning to HK Cultural Centre, and we're looking for talented children who love to dance and sparkle with joy to join the festive fun.
This is your chance to be a part of a magical holiday production that will leave audiences of all ages mesmerised. If you have a passion for dance, sign up to audition now, and get ready to spread holiday cheer on stage this December!

We are inviting young ballet dancers to audition for the various roles in The Nutcracker. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to share the stage with Hong Kong Ballet dancers!


 

First Round Audition 
Date: 7 September 2024 (Saturday)
Time: 9:00AM – 18:00PM
Venue:   6/F, Hong Kong Academy of Ballet Wong Chuk Hang Studio
Address: S22, 22 Heung Yip Road, Wong Chuk Hang

Group A (girls: 8 years old) - 9:00AM / 9:40AM / 10:20AM

Group B (girls: 9 years old) - 11:00AM / 11:40AM

Group C (girls: 10 years old) - 12:20PM/ 1:00PM

Group D (girls: 11-12 years old) - 1:40PM / 2:20PM

Group E (girls: 12+ years old, with at least two years pointe shoes experience) - 3:00PM/ 3:40PM

Group G (boys all ages) - 4:20PM

Pick-up Time:

Group B (girls: 9 years old) - 1:00PM / 1:45PM

Exact Registration and Pick up Time: Above times only serve as reference for applicants to reserve time to attend the audition. The exact audition grouping and time will be announced via Email and on Hong Kong Ballet website:  https://www.hkballet.com/en/meet-hkb/auditions  by 6:00PM, 4 September 2024 (Wednesday).

Second Round Audition

*Selected participants will be called back for another round of audition on 8 September, please kindly reserve your time in advance. Absent participants will be deemed as giving up the audition. No additional audition will be arranged.

Venue:      6/F, Hong Kong Academy of Ballet Wong Chuk Hang Studio

Exact Registration and Pick up Time: Details will be announced via email and on the Hong Kong Ballet website (https://www.hkballet.com/en/meet-hkb/auditions ) in the evening of 7 September.

*NB: the time groupings for the second round of auditions (on 8 Sept) might not be organised by age but by categories of casting and roles instead.

Requirements for children roles:

  • Must be able to attend ALL rehearsals and performances
  • Age requirement for girls:  Current ballet students girls between 8-18 years old  (Date of Birth: 7 September , 2007 to 7 September, 2016  (on  7 September 2024), 
  • Age requirement for boys:  7-18 years old (on 7 September 2024).
  • Height: 125 cm to 165 cm

  • Selected Children Dancers shall come to rehearsal according to their characters groupings

Application Guidelines

  • Deadline for application submission: 5:00pm, 2 September 2024 (Monday).
  • We ONLY accept online applications Here. Other forms of submission will not be considered. Our apologies for any inconvenience caused. Each candidate should only submit their application ONCE.
  • Audition confirmation will be sent out by email after the application deadline, e.g. 2 September 2024
  • Late submissions or incomplete registration forms will not be processed under any circumstances.
  • You risk losing your audition opportunity if you repeatedly submit applications for the same candidate.
  • Hong Kong Ballet's decision on all matters relating to the audition is final. 

Announcement of Audition Results

Successful applicants selected to participate in The Nutcracker 2024 will receive individual e-mail notification by 6:00pm, 20 Setember 2024 (Friday).
