[Hong Kong – 5 Sep 2018] This November, Hong Kong Ballet will stage the 1st International Gala of Stars, proudly presented by China Everbright Limited, featuring international ballet stars partnering Hong Kong Ballet artists in popular classical and contemporary ballet works for one night only.
Guest stars include Tan Yuan Yuan, Principal Dancer of San Francisco Ballet; Sarah Lane, Principal Dancer of American Ballet Theatre; Adiarys Almeida, International Ballet Star and Former Principal Dancer at Cincinnati Ballet & Corella Ballet; Herman Cornejo, Principal Dancer of American Ballet Theatre; Taras Domitro, International Ballet Star and Former Principal Dancer of San Francisco Ballet; Brooklyn Mack, Principal Dancer of The Washington Ballet; and Matthew Golding, Guest Principal Dancer of Bavarian State Ballet.
This glittering programme will include breathtaking performance excerpts from Swan Lake, ALICE (in wonderland), Le Corsaire and Don Quixote, dance set to groundbreaking rock music and choreography from Yuri Possokhov, Edwaard Liang, Christopher Wheeldon and Trey McIntyre. A highlight of the Gala will be the Hong Kong premiere of Anabelle Lopez Ochoa’s mesmerizing Sombrerisimo, with its six men and 24 bowler hats.
Artistic Director Septime Webre enthuses, “This is a programme which packs a punch. It will be an exciting evening filled with elegant poetry, thrilling virtuosity and world-class artistry - a real celebration of dance. It’s an evening of not-to-be-missed ballet!”
