Hong Kong Ballet’s Smash Hit ALICE (in wonderland) Opens Hong Kong Week 2021@Guangzhou

[Hong Kong—17 April 2021] As Hong Kong’s cultural ambassador, Hong Kong Ballet (HKB) will open Hong Kong Week 2021@Guangzhou with an exciting video screening of its exuberant production ALICE (in wonderland) with live music by Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra at Guangzhou Opera House (GOH)’s Experimental Theatre on 17 April 2021 at 7:30pm. The charity screening is free and by invitation of GOH only. Along with fun and interactive fringe activities videos, the original performance will also be available on Tencent Art during 17 April - 16 July to mainland Chinese audiences for one month after purchasing a ticket. This exciting virtual tour is supported by the HKSAR Government.

Choreographed by HKB’s Artistic Director Septime Webre, ALICE (in wonderland) is a fusion of dance, theatre, and puppetry that showcases a dizzying array of dances that merge traditional ballet with contemporary energy, capturing the topsy-turvy magic of Wonderland and the bizarre characters that confront Alice on her incredible journey. Featuring over-the-top physicality, exhilarating costumes designed by Cirque de Soleil designer Liz Vandal, bold, hypnotic sets designed by James Kronzer and a thrilling original score by Matthew Pierce, this giddy, over-the-top re-imagining of Lewis Carroll’s classic tale promises exhilarating fun for all ages.
