Ballet Classics for Children: Cinderella

Step into the magical world of ballet with this fun and educational production for all ages!

Proudly presented by Repetto

[Hong Kong – 1 Dec 2016] Following its huge success and sold-out performances in 2013, the fun, interactive production for the young and young at heart Ballet Classics for Children: Cinderella will return again to bewitch audiences of all ages in the New Year, with Repetto as its title sponsor. Initiated by Artistic Director Madeleine Onne, the wildly popular Ballet Classics for Children series features one-hour introductions to family friendly ballet classics for both ballet novices and long-time fans.

Choreographed by Yuri Ng, this entertaining and educational adaptation of the classic fairytale Cinderella sees heartbreak turn to joy as the power of love conquers all. Meet the Fairy Godmother, the ugly Stepsisters, and the handsome Prince as the exceptional Hong Kong Ballet dancers bring Cinderella’s triumphant rags-to-riches story to life with the help of an engaging story-teller using some unexpected surprises from Hong Kong!

The production will run from 20-22 January 2017 at the Studio Theatre, Hong Kong Cultural Centre for eight performances. The Company will present its first-ever show narrated in Japanese for ballet lovers, reaching to the Japanese community in the city! An extra performance will be staged on 20 Jan 2017 (Friday) at 5:00pm with our multi-talented dancer Shunsuke Arimizu as the Japanese narrator! Tickets are priced at $280 and $180, available at URBTIX now.

About Cinderella
Join Cinderella on a whirlwind adventure as she goes from rags to riches with the help of a magical makeover from her Fairy Godmother. Our heroine escapes a life of drudgery and hardship to attend the Royal Ball against her family’s wishes, but the enchanted transformation will only last until the clock strikes midnight…tick, tock, tick, tock! Cinderella and her stepsisters couldn’t be more different – she is kind-hearted, noble and beautiful, and they are wicked, cruel and ugly. The stepsisters’ slapstick antics provide ample wit and humour to get the whole family giggling!
