[Hong Kong—15 December 2021] The talk of the town, Hong Kong Ballet (HKB)’s world premiere of The Nutcracker by Artistic Director Septime Webre, enchanted audiences with another unforgettable night on 12 December, with China Reinsurance (Hong Kong)’s tremendous support to celebrate the company’s second anniversary.
Webre’s long-anticipated, lavish re-imagining of The Nutcracker follows young Clara and her magical Nutcracker on a thrilling adventure through early 20th century Hong Kong. Along the way, they encounter scores of fantastical creatures and lively characters among the wonderous beauty of local flora and fauna, traditions and wildlife. Experiencing Tchaikovsky’s iconic holiday score flawless performed live by Hong Kong Sinfonietta, audiences were mesmerised by guest principal artist Daniel Camargo’s enthralling performance as the noble Snow King, the ethereal snowy bamboo forest and the epic battle with the evil Rat King and his army!
It was a great pleasure to have China Reinsurance (Hong Kong) as The Nutcracker’s 12 December evening performance sponsor, marking the first-ever collaboration between China Reinsurance (Hong Kong) and HKB. HKB proudly hosted Mr Zhou Chao, Chief Executive Officer of China Reinsurance (Hong Kong); Mr Hu Xiao, Chief Financial Officer of China Reinsurance (Hong Kong) and their 350 guests and staff.
