[Hong Kong – 31st October 2014] Come celebrate the holidays this season with The Hong Kong Ballet’s festive production of The Nutcracker. 13 dazzling performances will be held at the Grand Theatre of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre from 19th to 21st and 24th to 28th December 2014.
Join the adventures of Clara, Fritz and the Nutcracker as they battle the evil Rat King and climb atop the magical Christmas tree to meet the Ballerina Doll! With gorgeous sets and costumes, The Nutcracker is a spectacular ballet which showcases the brilliant classical ballet technique of The Hong Kong Ballet dancers together with local children from the Hong Kong community. Featuring Pytor Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s beautiful score performed live by the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, this ballet is sure to enchant the entire family.
About The Nutcracker
Tiptoe through the silent house with Clara and Fritz…everyone else is asleep but little do they know that the children are about to set off on a magical adventure! As the snow falls outside, Clara and Fritz step into the dream world of the dolls’ house. Suddenly Clara and Fritz find themselves in the middle of a great battle; can the heroic Nutcracker conquer the dastardly Rat King and his army? Will the children save the day and reunite the Ballerina and her beloved Nutcracker?

With beautiful music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, find out more about this wonderful production and its historical journey from St Petersburg, Russia to Hong Kong. This informative and lighthearted conversation is suitable for children and adults alike and is the perfect way to begin your magical experience at the theatre.

Don’t miss this super, interactive workshop, tailor-made for children aged 4-8. Imagery, crafts and of course movement will be used to explore the classical story The Nutcracker. Students will be encouraged to express their theatrical side through character interpretation. They will also learn some of bravura steps from this classical ballet, to be a little Nutcracker, Ballerina or Rat King! No previous dance experience is necessary.
