Coco Chanel: the Life of a Fashion Icon’s World Premiere

Mesmerises Audiences with 5 Sold-out Performances


[Hong Kong—27 March 2023] Hong Kong Ballet (HKB), Atlanta Ballet and Queensland Ballet thrilled Hong Kong audiences with the much-anticipated world premiere of Coco Chanel: the Life of a Fashion Icon by world-renowned Colombian-Belgian choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa. Proudly presented by UOB, Coco Chanel: the Life of a Fashion Icon’s World Premiere ran at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts’ Lyric Theatre during 24-26 March 2023. The show was enthusiastically received with standing ovations!

We’re incredibly grateful for our entire team’s dedication to make this special ballet production one of the dance season’s highlights and for the show to receive such an overwhelmingly enthusiastic response from our fans.

A brilliant designer and shrewd businesswoman, firebrand Coco Chanel redefined the world of fashion and outfitted a new generation of modern women who were intelligent, ambitious and rebellious. Her iconic little black dress and bouclé jackets and skirts are now classic style staples seen all over the world.

In addition, Ms Daisy Ho, BBS, Chairman of the HKB Board of Governors; Mrs Mira Yeh, Vice-chairman of HKB Board of Governors; and HKB Board of Governors members Mrs Janice Chan-Choy, Ms Lindzay Chan, Mrs Deirdre Fu Tcheng, Mrs Liana Yung Yeung, Dr Eden Woon, JP, Mr Arthur Minshiang Wang; Ms Maya Lin, Member of HKB Board of Governors & Co-chair of The Hong Kong Ballet Guild attended the premiere to celebrate HKB’s artistry and dedicated efforts.
