[Hong Kong—21 July 2021] Audiences can’t get enough of HKB Artistic Director Septime Webre’s award-winning encore of ALICE (in wonderland), an unforgettable fusion of dance, theatre and puppetry that’s exhilarating fun for all ages! With tickets quickly selling out, HKB has happily added another performance on 12 August 2021 at 7:30pm to accommodate enthusiastic fans. Tickets for the extra show will be available at URBTIX from 29 July 2021.
Inspired by Lewis Carroll’s classic novel, choreographer Webre showcases a dizzying array of dances that merge traditional ballet with contemporary energy, capturing the topsy-turvy magic of Wonderland. Bursting with energy and imagination, the enormously entertaining world of Alice, the White Rabbit, Queen of Hearts and Mad Hatter features captivating costumes by Cirque du Soleil designer Liz Vandal, outrageously flamboyant sets by James Kronzer and Matthew Pierce’s hypnotic original score.
Webre enthuses, ‘After an unpredictable year of mostly staying at home, people have really missed the performing arts and are ready for the playful optimism and stunning visuals in ALICE (in wonderland)! It’s an incredible experience that you can only get from a powerful live performance, and we are thrilled that audiences want more of this fantastic world we’ve created.’
Beloved by both audiences and critics, the production notably won Outstanding Performance by a Female Dancer, Outstanding Ensemble Performance and Outstanding Costume Design at the 21st Hong Kong Dance Awards.
A total of six performances will be held at Grand Theatre, Hong Kong Culture Centre. Tickets are priced at $680, $480, $320 and $180, with VIP tickets at $1,000. Suitable for ages 3 and above. What are you waiting for? Don’t miss out on this zany summer adventure with Alice and her quirky friends!
In order to share the joy and beauty of ballet with a wider audience, HKB will be recording the production for online streaming in the future, thereby enabling families worldwide to enjoy this wonderful production anywhere. Due to the technical requirements of filming multiple performances for editing purposes, pre-recorded music will be used during the live performances.
