Henderson Land Proudly Presents The Nutcracker
Mesmerises 30,000 Audiences

[Hong Kong — 30 December 2024] During 13-29 December, Hong Kong Ballet (HKB) was thrilling Hong Kong audiences with 22 performances of Henderson Land Proudly Presents The Nutcracker, at Hong Kong Cultural Centre’s Grand Theatre. 30,000 Audience members were captivated by Septime Webre’s timeless holiday tradition filled with Tchaikovsky’s world-famous score, opulent sets and costumes and beloved Hong Kong elements that enchant people year after year. 

The Nutcracker notably won the acclaimed Spirit of Culture Award at the 12th Spirit of Hong Kong Awards and the Star of Outstanding Award at UNESCO’s 2024 Global Awards for World Heritage Education Innovative Cases.

Snow Much Fun!
On Christmas Eve, Clara and the Nutcracker Prince embark on a magical journey through a snowy bamboo forest, battle the villainous Rat King and encounter a host of whimsical characters, including blossoming bauhinias, playful peacocks and dancing dim sum. From snowflakes to sword fights to the fantastical Christmas tree that reaches the sky, The Nutcracker abounds in spectacle and wonder while celebrating our city’s rich cultural tapestry and bringing out the child in everyone!

On opening night, HKB proudly hosted Henderson Land management, including Henderson Land Executive Director Mr Patrick Kwok, Corporate Communications Department General Manager Ms Cynthia Leung, Portfolio Leasing General Manager Mr Terence Chan, Project Management General Manager Mr Victor Kwok, Property Development General Manager Mr Randy Yu, the Hong Kong Ballet Guild members Mrs Emelda Wong Trainor, Mrs Charlotte Tsuei-Robinson, Permanent Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Ms Vivian Sum Fong-kwang, Director of Leisure and Cultural Services Ms Manda Chan Wing-man and other esteemed guests.

With Henderson Land’s generous donation to HKB’s Accessibility Fund, 100 underprivileged people were invited to enjoy the 22 December matinee performance. They also joined a pre-performance talk where they learnt more about The Nutcracker from the creative team.

About Hong Kong Ballet
Hong Kong Ballet (HKB) is recognised internationally as a world-class institution that represents Hong Kong's unique character. HKB maintains the Hong Kong Academy of Ballet, a professionally-oriented ballet school, as well as a full schedule of award-winning community programmes and crossover collaborations throughout Hong Kong to ensure ballet is accessible to all. HKB has also produced engaging original videos and dance films that have collectively garnered over 10 million views online, connecting with ballet lovers worldwide.
