[Hong Kong—11 April 2024] This April Hong Kong Ballet (HKB), in partnership with Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, enchants audiences of all ages once again with StellaLou's Wonderful Wishes Ballet. Back by popular demand, the inspiring 30-minute show about heartwarming friendship and following your dreams runs for a month at Hong Kong Disneyland and features the powerful new HKB Ensemble of current and former HKB dancers and hand-picked dance artists from around the globe. As StellaLou diligently practices and overcomes challenges, her close friends Duffy, LinaBell and Gelatoni cheer her on and give her the encouragement she needs to achieve her dream of becoming a ballet dancer.
HKB has invited its former Principal Dancers Shen Jie and Wei Wei (currently HKB's Associate Ballet Master and Principal Character Dancer) as the production’s rehearsal masters. The new HKB Ensemble widens the company’s artistic possibilities for regular season performances and special events with its expansion of performing artists from overseas joining current and former HKB dancers.
HKB Artistic Director Septime Webre explains, ‘We love welcoming new dancers into the Hong Kong Ballet family and watching them enhance our creativity and artistry in surprising new ways. We always strive for a warm, fun and inclusive environment where ballet inspires and moves everyone, and I am excited for new opportunities to bring ballet to even more people around our city and the world.’
HKB Executive Director Heidi Lee shares, ‘The partnership between Hong Kong Ballet and Hong Kong Disneyland Resort for StellaLou's Wonderful Wishes Ballet exemplifies our shared vision to joyfully entertain audiences, uniting artistic brilliance and storytelling magic in a collaborative celebration of the arts.’
