[Hong Kong—26 February 2020] Today Hong Kong Ballet announces that, in light of recent developments related to the current coronavirus outbreak, its upcoming tour to the US will be postponed to an upcoming season. The tour, which was originally scheduled for 17 to 24 April 2020, was to feature the Company’s exuberant production of ALICE (in wonderland) presented by The Virginia Arts Festival, The Peace Center for the Performing Arts and The Pennsylvania State University—Center for the Performing Arts.
Artistic Director Septime Webre says, “As a global cultural ambassador for Hong Kong, the Company was really looking forward to performing for our American fans and are disappointed about postponing our April performances. However, we understand that the health and safety of our dancers and the general public comes first. We sincerely hope that Hong Kong and the rest of the world will recover soon, and are committed to returning to Virginia, South Carolina and Pennsylvania as well as touring in other US cities in the coming seasons.”
Hong Kong Ballet remains scheduled to perform at Wolf Trap in Washington, DC on 16 June 2020. Ticketholders for the affected performances can visit the websites of the performing venues for ticketing assistance. Hong Kong Ballet would like to thank its tour presenters, performing venue partners and sponsors for their continued support.
