Hong Kong Ballet’s 2019/20 Season Opens with the Asian premiere of Peter Pan

[Hong Kong – 4 July 2019] Hong Kong Ballet kicks off its milestone 40th Anniversary Season with the Asian premiere of Septime Webre’s Peter Pan. This high-flying adventure to Neverland is a fresh take on J.M. Barrie's classic tale and will transport audiences to a fantasy island of cheeky pirates, Indian princesses and naughty boys who don't want to grow up. Fans eager to meet the magical fairy Tinkerbell and villainous Captain Hook pursued by the hungry Crocodile have already snapped up tickets and made the production the most popular one in the 2019/20 subscription season.

Peter Pan features extravagant new costumes by Liz Vandal, whose ALICE (in wonderland) designs wowed Hong Kong audiences last season and won 'Outstanding Costume Design' at the 21st Hong Kong Dance Awards, as well as spectacular new sets by Holly Highfill that bring Neverland to life. With vibrant choreography that combines classical ballet, clever slapstick and a touch of hip hop set to Carmon DeLeon’s original sweeping score performed live by Hong Kong Sinfonietta, this breathtaking production follows the adventurous Peter Pan through various hijinks with humour and heart.

Additionally, after an unprecedented number of fans turned out last season in support of ALICE (in wonderland) special events, Hong Kong Ballet will collaborate again with Hysan Development and Lee Gardens Association on Ballet in Lee Gardens – Peter Pan, a series of interactive Peter Pan themed events including an exhibition, a workshop, a Fun Day, performances and a parade with Peter Pan’s favourite characters through the streets of Causeway Bay!

Committed to bringing the joy of ballet to audiences across the city, Hong Kong Ballet will present this magical production at Hong Kong Cultural Centre’s Grand Theatre during 16-18 August and at Sha Tin Town Hall Auditorium during 23-25 August. Tickets are available at URBTIX now and are priced at $680, $480, $320 and $180, with VIP tickets at $1,000 for Hong Kong Cultural Centre and at $320, $220, $120 for Sha Tin Town Hall. Suitable for ages 3 and above.
