[Hong Kong – 23rd December 2014] Forever popular, The Hong Kong Ballet's festive production of The Nutcracker dazzled 5 full houses of enthusiastic spectators during its opening weekend.
In addition to the brilliant dancing, gorgeous sets and stunning costumes, five Hong Kong-born rising stars assumed notable roles in this production. Leung Chun Long, recently promoted to Coryphée, is featured for the first time in the lead role of the evil Rat King. He shone on stage during his two performances on the opening weekend. Another local talent Sarah Yeung (Corps de Ballet) was in a lively pas de deux as the Spanish Doll. In the Italian Dance, Peggy Lai was featured as Colombina. Apprentice-turned Corps de Ballet member, Vanessa Lai also had a striking appearance in the exotic Egyptian Dance, while this year’s Apprentice Hui Ka Chun won over the audiences in the delightful and fun Chinese Dance.
In the second week, Leung Chun Long will perform as the Rat King and in another lead role Fritz in The Nutcracker. Check out the following table for the appearances of these young local talents. Come and enjoy this family favourite. Christmas Eve is almost sold out and tickets are going fast for the other shows! Get your tickets now to embrace the magic of this wonderful Christmas tradition.
