[Hong Kong – 2 January 2014] The Hong Kong Ballet today announced the appointment of Mr Paul Tam Siu-man as its new Executive Director. Mr Tam will take up his position on 20 January 2014.
"The Board of Governors is thrilled with the appointment," Mrs Daisy Ho, Chairman of the Board said. "Mr Tam has a strong track record of arts leadership through strategic thinking and deft management of all aspects of the arts programmes. Under Mr Tam’s leadership, the Company will reach new heights in its business expertise with respect to operations, fiscal sustainability, the ability to collaborate with partners and stakeholders, the ability to engage the public’s interest through exciting offerings, and the ability to inspire and serve the community - all of which will translate into building the Company into a world-class organisation that is known for its business acumen as well as its artistic excellence."
Mr Tam is an experienced marketing and public relations professional with expertise in brand-building, business development, growth and sustainability for the arts, NGO and commercial sectors. He is currently General Manager at the Hong Kong International Literary Festival, directing all aspects of its operations from programming to fundraising. Previously Director of Marketing at the Hong Kong Philharmonic, the largest performing arts group in Hong Kong with an annual audience of over 100,000, he oversaw the orchestra’s marketing, communications, education and audience development programmes.
Mr Tam holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Piano Performance and Composition, as well as an MBA in Arts Administration from York University, Canada. He was a Vilar Fellow at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts from 2003-2004, a member of the Cultural Leadership Academy at the University of Hong Kong, and is currently Chairman of the Hong Kong Arts Administrators Association. He is also a newspaper columnist, covering a broad range of topics including arts and culture.

I look forward to working with every member of the Company to help our narrative reach wider audiences both locally and overseas, and to lead this wonderful organisation into a new and exciting phase of development."
Artistic Director Madeleine Onne echoed his thoughts, adding "The Hong Kong Ballet continues to grow artistically, and it will be fantastic to have Paul leading the administrative side of the Company, helping to guide and direct that aspect of our work. I look forward to working closely with him to take The Hong Kong Ballet to greater success.
