To introduce amazing range of action-packed and fun-filled activities at Lee Gardens, Hysan Development, Lee Gardens Association and Hong Kong Ballet jointly staged a press conference on Peter Pan at Hysan Place today. Participants were delighted by the sparkling costumes and the exclusive behind-the-scenes experience of the newest Hong Kong Ballet production. Addressing participants at the kick-off ceremony, Mr. Mark Tung, Director of Lee Gardens Association, said “Last year’s ALICE (in wonderland) completely mesmerised the Lee Gardens visitor. We think this year’s Peter Pan will bring even more glamorous fun to the area, and we thank Hong Kong Ballet for showcasing their best on our streets.”
At the ceremony, Mr. Septime Webre, Artistic Director of Hong Kong Ballet, and Mr. Paul Tam, Executive Director of Hong Kong Ballet, shared special highlights of Peter Pan and the upcoming captivating activities at Lee Gardens. Mr. Webre said, “The ballet production of Peter Pan has added many modern stage effects, including flying effects and extraordinarily designed sets and costumes. It has truly tested the limits of our dancers’ techniques, and audiences can’t wait to take a high-flying adventure into the world of Peter Pan.”
Mr. Paul Tam said, “As a vital cultural asset in the city, Hong Kong Ballet is proud to bring the thrilling beauty and grace of ballet in surprising ways to all corners of Hong Kong. It is a great opportunity for us to enhance community engagement with stunning ballet performances. Based on our popular ALICE (in wonderland) experience last year, we expect that participants will again be immersed in unforgettable adventures during their time experiencing Peter Pan at Lee Gardens.”
Hong Kong Ballet’s Principal Dancers Ms. Venus Villa (as Wendy), Mr. Shen Jie (as Peter Pan), Coryphée Ms. Yang Ruiqi (as Tinkerbell) and Ballet Master Mr. Luis R. Torres (as Captain Hook) played their respective characters during the sneak peak of Peter Pan with captivating dance postures. Participants and guests wandered through the exhibition at Lee Garden Two and admired extravagant new costumes designed by Liz Vandal, who is best known for her alluring Cirque du Soleil costumes.
