Romeo and Juliet: Cast Announced for
Shakespeare's Timeless Tragic Love Story

[Hong Kong – 11th November 2015] Hong Kong Ballet announces today the cast list for Romeo and Juliet. Romance and tragedy, drama and passion, thrilling duels and fun festive scenes, Hong Kong Ballet will transport you to 16th century Verona, Italy, with this greatest love story of all time. Choreographed by the late Rudi van Dantzig, and set to Sergei Prokofiev’s powerful score, Hong Kong Ballet’s dancers will bring to life William Shakespeare’s tragic tale of star-crossed lovers. The return of this production has been long awaited and much anticipated by the Hong Kong audience. A limited run of 5 performances will be staged at the Grand Theatre, Hong Kong Cultural Centre from 20th - 22nd November (Friday to Sunday).

Hong Kong Ballet’s stellar Principal Dancers Liu Yu-yao and Li Jia-bo will dance the roles of Juliet and Romeo respectively on 21st and 22nd Nov at 7:30pm; our beloved Soloist Liu Miao-miao will partner with Principal Dancer Wei Wei to depict this love story on 20th Nov at 7:30pm and 22nd Nov at 2:30pm. Hong Kong Ballet is delighted that this will be the first time for Miao-miao and Jia-bo to dance the roles of Juliet and Romeo, respectively. After his most recent success as Pinocchio in the full length ballet of the same title, the versatile Soloist Shen Jie will dance both of the main male parts, Mercutio and Romeo. He will make his debut as Romeo together with another debutant - Soloist Dong Ruixue on 21st Nov at 2.30pm. Limited tickets for some performances. Grab your tickets at URBTIX today.

About Romeo And Juliet
The seamless choreography in Rudi van Dantzig’s Romeo And Juliet vividly depicts the story’s passion, sorrow and vengeance, capturing the intense passion of the star-crossed lovers and the ceaseless feud between two family clans in beautiful Verona. Set to Sergei Prokofiev’s thrilling orchestral score, this dramatic ballet stays loyal to Shakespeare’s original tragic ending.
