From June to October, around 250 students from nine local schools participated in our on-campus workshop ‘The Nutcracker - A Hong Kong Christmas Adventure’. They learned about the story’s colourful characters, sparkling costumes and set designs that incorporated unique Hong Kong elements. Afterwards, participants got hands-on experiences with various styles of elegant ballet skirts and pointe shoes and learned some simple ballet movements and mime to express heartfelt emotions and storylines.
THANK YOU to the Greater Bay Area Homeland Youth Community Foundation and Vivere Sky Social Enterprise for having us at their ‘Art Appreciation Programme’, which gives underprivileged junior high students the opportunity to learn about ballet. We are grateful for this meaningful initiative that helped cultivate students’ appreciation for ballet and hope these fond memories will last for a lifetime!
