On 16 October 2018, Giselle Ballet 360° thrilled 90 guests at Hong Kong Cultural Centre’s Rehearsal Studio. Led by Artistic Director Septime Webre, the engaging session delved deeper into Giselle’s background and themes through conversation with Restagers Septime Webre and Charla Genn, as well as guest coach Julio Bocca.
Company dancers Venus Villa, Shen Jie, Chen Zhi-yao and Li Lin discussed their respective Giselle roles and theirperspectives on Hong Kong Ballet and performed inspiring excerpts from the production with a live piano accompanist. Venus Villa and Shen Jie gracefully danced Peasant Pas de Deux from Act 1 and Giselle and Albrecht’s Pas de Deux from Act 2, with live coaching by Ms Genn. Additionally, Chen Zhi-yao passionately performed Giselle Act 1 solo variation and Giselle and Albrecht’s Pas de Deux from Act 1 with Li Lin.
Delighted audience members responded with loud applause after each excerpt. Ballet 360o concluded with a Q & A session, and everyone was thrilled with their early glimpse of the supernatural romantic production!
