On 19th December 2015, Hong Kong Ballet joined the Open Accessible Studio “By ALL Means: Arts are for Everyone” hosted by the Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong (ADAHK) at the Jockey Club Arts Accessibility Service Centre (JCAASC)’s Open Day.
The primary aim of the event was to show that the arts can be enjoyed with different senses and by different means so that everyone, including the disabled, can access the arts without any barriers. Through sign interpretation, around 30 participants engaged in the art form of ballet through an introductory talk, mimes and movement. Those who were visually impaired used their sense of touch to explore the intricate costumes and pointe shoes. Hong Kong Ballet is proud to participate in this event to give people with disabilities equal opportunities to access aspects of the ballet experience and to appreciate its history and beauty.
