On 16th January 2016, in partnership with the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, Hong Kong Ballet proudly presented Swan Lake Creative Ballet Animateur Scheme – Magic Theatre at the Ko Shan Theatre’s auditorium to over 400 enthusiastic audience members from six participating primary schools, NGOs and the Hong Kong general public.
After a lively introduction of theatre fun facts by the Stage Magician, the audience learned more about how a theatre operates in terms of curtain settings, stage positions, and light and sound effects when producing a ballet. Interactive sessions followed, with eager students volunteering to go onstage to demonstrate their new knowledge by assisting the Stage Magician in presenting a dramatic version of Swan Lake. For many, it was the first time they had ever experienced a glimpse at all the time and hard work that goes into a live stage production.
Additionally, the audience got an up-close look at a series of beautiful ballet excerpts by the Company’s dancers, accompanied by a brief introduction to stage etiquette and ballet appreciation. The performances helped the audience to become more engaged with the productions as well as the behind-the-scene activities. Everyone left with a smile on their face!
