On 16 December 2017, two insightful The Nutcracker Pre-performance Talks at Hong Kong Cultural Centre complimented the annual holiday classic’s first weekend run. The two 20-minute engaging sessions with over 200 audience members were led by the Company’s Education & Community Outreach Manager Vency Kwok in Cantonese and Artistic Director Septime Webre in English, respectively, and featured special guests who played key roles in the production.

Choreographer Terence Kohler candidly spoke about his ideas and sources of inspiration during his creative journey to bring this beloved festive ballet to Hong Kong Ballet’s stage. Additionally, Company dancers Law Lok Huen Tirion and Cheng Hei Lam Michelle shared about their experiences during the production process and also gave audiences an opportunity to see their intricately detailed costumes up close. The talks were an ideal introduction to The Nutcracker, giving guests interesting relevant background and historical information before they saw the actual show itself!
