On 25 October 2016, the Preview of Lady of the Camellias saw over 100 enthusiastic audience members at the Rehearsal Studio inside Hong Kong Cultural Centre.
During the engaging presentation, the audience learned more about the evolution of Lady of the Camellias from the original novel to plays, operas and movies to various ballet performances through videos of different interpretations of Lady of the Camellias. Artistic Director Madeleine Onne talked with choreographer Val Caniparoli about his ideas and inspirations when creating his own version of Lady of the Camellias. Assistant to the choreographer Charla Whiteley also shared her experiences working with Hong Kong Ballet, and guests heard more about Chopin’s music in this production.
Additionally, the audience had the treat of seeing signature dance excerpts from Lady of the Camellias performed by Company dancers: Fei-fei Ye and Peng-fei Jiang in Pas De Deux between Marguerite and Baron; Rui-qi Yang, Yumiko Fukuda, Jun Xia, Jonathan Spigner and Ryo Kato in Pas De Cinq; Fei-fei Ye and Jia-bo Li in Pas De Deux between Marguerite and Armand. Everyone present truly enjoyed their early glimpse of this romantic production!
