The Sleeping Beauty - School Culture Day

“School Culture Day Scheme”, presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, aims to encourage students to visit performing arts venues during school hours to take part in cultural programmes specifically designed for them. Its purpose is to incorporate arts into the learning process and everyday life.

The Hong Kong Ballet staged excerpts of The Sleeping Beauty for students on 12th March 2015 at the Auditorium of Tuen Mun Town Hall. Approximately 1,000 students attended, from 10 primary and 3 secondary schools.

Through a blend of story-telling and dance, the students met the main characters, learnt about the story, ballet mime, music and production process of The Sleeping Beauty as well as watching dance excerpts. The event was very well received by students and teachers alike, and The Hong Kong Ballet is proud to have encouraged a love of the arts through this scheme.
