[Hong Kong8 November 2019] Celebrating 40 years of inspiring dance, Hong Kong Ballet had its anniversary celebration China Everbright Ltd. Proudly Presents International Gala of Stars 2019 over the weekend to standing ovations.

The star-studded production featured HKB dancers alongside some of the world’s most eminent ballerinas and danseurs, including Dorothée Gilbert, Etoile of Paris Opera Ballet; Tan Yuan Yuan, Principal Dancer of San Francisco Ballet; Ako Kondo, Principal Artist of The Australian Ballet; Marcelo Gomes, international ballet star and former Principal Dancer of American Ballet Theatre; Osiel Gouneo, Principal Dancer of Bavarian State Ballet; Vitor Luiz, international ballet star and former Principal Dancer of San Francisco Ballet; and Matthew Golding, Guest Principal Dancer of Ballett Dortmund and former Principal Dancer of The Royal Ballet and Dutch National Ballet.

Audiences were treated to mesmerising classical and contemporary works like the world premieres of Yuh Egami’s Yixi and excerpts from Hu Song Wei Ricky’s Between the Emotion and the Response, as well as other brilliant works including Company’s debuts of Yuri Possokhov's Pas de Deux from Bells and Edwaard Liang's The Infinite Ocean.

Additionally, the Company held a China Everbright Gala Night Event on 1 November, which was attended by prominent guests like Dr Chen Lin, Director-General of Department of Youth Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong S.A.R.; Mr Kevin So, Chief Strategy Officer of China Everbright Ltd.; Mrs Mary Griffiths, Founder of Hong Kong Ballet; Mr Arthur Minshiang Wang, Member of Board of Governors of Hong Kong Ballet; Mrs Helen Tseng Wu, Co-Chairperson of Board of The Hong Kong Ballet Group, and more.

For the fourth consecutive year, China Everbright Limited donated to Hong Kong Ballet’s Accessibility Fund, which provides underprivileged families in the New Territories with an opportunity to experience live ballet. This year, 40 people from two beneficiary organisations - Glorious Light Neighbourhood Centre and Pok Oi Hospital Wai Yin Association Family Multiple Intelligences Centre - received complimentary tickets for the 3 November matinee performance of Swan Lake.
