Light up the Christmas Season with Hong Kong Ballet’s The Nutcracker

[Hong Kong—16 October 2020] Christmas is never complete without The Nutcracker. Hong Kong Ballet (HKB) is thrilled to bring Terence Kohler’s The Nutcracker back to the theatre this December for its ninth consecutive year despite pandemic challenges. This cherished family holiday tradition provides festive entertainment and inspiration for both children and adults, first-time ballet-goers and longtime ballet fans alike.

Acclaimed international choreographer Terence Kohler created this unforgettable production especially for HKB, with an enchanting mix of vibrant dancing, courageous characters and elaborate visuals that has delighted audiences since its premiere. Audience members will be transported to a magical world where beloved characters—Clara and Fritz, the Ballerina and her Nutcracker Prince, the Rat King and many more—come alive to Tchaikovsky’s captivating score with live accompaniment by Hong Kong Sinfonietta.

The Nutcracker will run 17–27 December 2020 at Hong Kong Cultural Centre’s Grand Theatre for 15 performances. Tickets are available now at URBTIX and are priced at $680, $480, $320 and $180, with VIP tickets at $1,000. A preview will be held at the same venue on 17 December with tickets priced at $880 (VIP tickets), $580, $420, $320 and $180. Suitable for ages 3 and above. Get together with your loved ones to experience this magical holiday tradition!

All audience members are required to wear their own masks, avoid sharing items and maintain appropriate social distance in the theatre. The safety of our patrons, artists and staff is our first priority, and as such, seating for The Nutcracker will reflect the latest social distancing regulations in Hong Kong. HKB is closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and will promptly announce any changes to performances following the latest official pandemic recommendations, including the release of additional seats for sale to the public should social distancing rules be relaxed prior to the performances. For the most recent updates, please check HKB’s official website (hkballet.com).
